Donald Wayne Howard, 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Union Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1936, in Terre Haute to Carl O. and Mary M. (Parker) Howard.

Donald is survived by his children, Jane McKamey of Terre Haute, Judith Long of Rosedale, and Dan Howard and wife Linda of Terre Haute; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Howard and wife Martha of Tomball, TX and Larry Howard and wife Peggy of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Carrol Howard of Terre Haute; a close friend that was just like a...

Donald Wayne Howard, 81, of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Union Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1936, in Terre Haute to Carl O. and Mary M. (Parker) Howard.

Donald is survived by his children, Jane McKamey of Terre Haute, Judith Long of Rosedale, and Dan Howard and wife Linda of Terre Haute; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Howard and wife Martha of Tomball, TX and Larry Howard and wife Peggy of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Carrol Howard of Terre Haute; a close friend that was just like a brother, Ron Miller and wife Norma of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis (Anderson) Howard; daughter, Janis Howard; great-grandson, Dallas James Epple; and a brother, Darrel Howard.

Don graduated from Otter Creek High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Anderson on April 16, 1964. He worked as a general foreman for J.I. Case. Don enjoyed farming and restoring old tractors. He served on the advisory board for Otter Creek Township for many years. Don never knew a stranger. He had a tough exterior, but always had a soft heart especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was truly loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 16 from 10 to 1 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy McPike officiating. Don will be laid to rest next to his wife in Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
