Gretchen Lee Burt, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 12, 1927, in Terre Haute, to Frank and Ethel (Spear) Tuttle. She married Floyd Burt on July 13, 1947.
Gretchen is survived by her husband of 70 years, Floyd Burt of Terre Haute; children, Edward Burt and wife Donna of Brazil, and Pam Drake and husband Larry of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Michael Burt and wife Christi, Robert Burt and wife Marianne, Michelle Burt, Chris Drake and wife Melissa, Lisa...

Gretchen Lee Burt, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 12, 1927, in Terre Haute, to Frank and Ethel (Spear) Tuttle. She married Floyd Burt on July 13, 1947.
Gretchen is survived by her husband of 70 years, Floyd Burt of Terre Haute; children, Edward Burt and wife Donna of Brazil, and Pam Drake and husband Larry of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Michael Burt and wife Christi, Robert Burt and wife Marianne, Michelle Burt, Chris Drake and wife Melissa, Lisa Van Reed and husband Logan; great-grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, Madison, Kendall, Grace, Max, and Sophia Burt; Kaylee and Alyssa Criss, Lyndsey and Haylee Drake, Lex and Grayson Van Reed, and Skylar Long; a great-great-granddaughter, Alaina Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Deardorf and Bev Stanek; and brothers, Frank, Richard, and Maurice Tuttle.
Gretchen was a member of Daughters of the Nile. She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed mysteries and love stories. Gretchen liked to bowl and call bingo. After retiring, Gretchen and Floyd lived in Florida for 27 years, returning to Terre Haute in 2016 to be near their family.
Gretchen's family would like to thank Dr. Mendoza, Sycamore Manor, and Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their compassion and care during her final days.
Per Gretchen's wishes, cremation was chosen. She will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22.
